Meet Dr. Leanthony Hardy, Medical Director

Meet Dr. Leanthony Hardy, respected and beloved Medical Director at both our Cartersville and Fulton Centers in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. We hopped on the phone with him to learn more about his approach and philosophy.

Empire: Thanks for taking the time to meet with us Dr. Hardy.

Dr. Hardy: My pleasure.

E: Tell us a little about what you do – what’s your area of expertise?

Dr. H: I’m the medical director of Cartersville, and recently Fulton as well. I started as an assistant director there last year in March, and have since been taking over other key areas. I specialize in internal medicine.

Senior care is a field I love. I’ve been working with seniors for most of my career – hospice, rehab, long term care. I really enjoy taking care of elderly patients. There’s something incredibly rewarding about it.

E: As someone who works with elderly patients, what do you find is key to keeping your patients healthy and improving outcomes?

Dr.H: I like to approach each patient as if they were my own family. To consider, if this was my parent, or my sibling, how would I want them to be treated? What level of attention would I give them?

E: What a refreshing outlook! As medical director, how do you keep your entire team aligned with and carrying that approach through their daily routines?

Dr. H.: Example. It’s always by example. I have high standards for myself, for what I expect of myself, and I would never ask any member of my team to do something I personally wouldn’t do.

E: What is it about working for Empire Care that you love most?

Dr. H: It’s something I noticed from the first moment I began working here: The true family atmosphere of the entire center. The togetherness, and the warm, positive attitude, where every member of the staff puts patients and their families first. There’s nothing like it, and I’m grateful to be a part.
